One of the most anticipated titles in the history of FIFA, the FIFA 23, has arrived, and players are just spending hours playing FIFA 23.

The game is responsible for having the biggest football game community with them, and there is no other way to play your favorite football players except playing FIFA 2023.

The FIFA video game series launches a new game every year, and they constantly improve the overall game while adding new teams to the game.

However, for many years the community of FIFA asked the video game franchise about the crossplay feature, and finally, in the final edition of FIFA with EA Sports, they added the cross-platform feature for the very first time.

Although the game finally added the crossplay functionality to the game, the community is still digging into it for further details regarding how this cross-platform feature works and how they can play the game with their friends who are from different platforms.

Is FIFA 23 Cross-Platform?

Yes the, FIFA 23 does support the crossplay feature, and it will allow the players to compete from all around the world with their friends and opponents on different platforms.

Since the official test for the crossplay in the FIFA 22 to Online Friendlies and Online Seasons, the developers of the game are expanding their cross-platform functionality to the other modes of FIFA 23 as well and adding more gaming platforms to it too.

In FIFA 23, the cross-platform functionality will be available for players playing on the same platform generation.

This means that the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC versions of FIFA 23 are crossplay compatible, and they can share the gameplay across the platforms of the same generation.

For players playing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, they can play with each other as well. So, clearly, it means you can play with each other only if you have the same generation console.

The crossplay compatibility is not on all modes, which means it will be available in FUT Division Rivals (except Co-Op), FUT Champions, FUT Ultimate Online Draft, FUT Online Friendlies (except Co-Op), FUT Play a Friend, Online Friendlies, Online Seasons (except Co-Op Seasons) and the Virtual Bundesliga competitive game mode that is available to players based in Germany.

Lastly, the Pro Clubs will not feature cross-play at this time, and there may be a future update regarding the Pro Club crossplay planned.

The crossplay feature is enabled by default, and all the players playing the FIFA 23 for the first time can play with other platforms without any tweaks, while you can turn the crossplay off at any time as well.

The developer aims to maintain the quality of FIFA 23 around all the game modes by giving the crossplay authority on specific game modes only to provide a fair play policy among the users.

This way, they can easily track the technical issues and difficulties while enabling the crossplay on specific modes, so throwing updates this way can also help the developers and community.

Is FIFA 23 Cross-Gen? Well, it’s a no because FIFA 23 does not support this feature, and players can only link up with other systems of the same generation, which means a player playing from Xbox One can only play with a player playing PS4 and vice versa.

The same is for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S users as well. Apart from this there is no other way Football fans can save their game cross-gen.

Does FIFA 23 Pro Clubs Have Crossplay?

No, the FIFA 23 Pro Clubs does not support the crossplay functionality yet. However, I am attaching the statement of the developers at EA Sports where they said:

Hello everyone, my name is Richard Walz, Game Design Director for Pro Clubs and VOLTA Football. I wanted to start off by speaking to an important topic in the community, cross-play.

I share your desire to see cross-play in Pro Clubs, and understand the frustrations for not seeing it included in the launch of FIFA 23. While we’re excited with the first steps to bring new cross-play features to FIFA 23, we also recognize what cross-play functionality could mean to the Pro Clubs mode with the potential for improving matchmaking and allowing friends from different platforms of the same generation to play together.

With the scale of such an important feature, our goal is to bring you the best possible experiences. As we look at our cross-play future, we’re focused on matchmaking in Pro Clubs, VOLTA, and FUT Co-op, as well as cross-platform lobby invites and, ultimately, cross-platform Pro Clubs.

We’re eager to provide updates in the future as the team continues to execute the plan for the future of cross-play. We love the passion of our community, and you help strengthen our resolve to push the mode forward and to bring quality changes for you to enjoy as players.

That was their statement, and we hope they will add the feature in the Pro Clubs as well in the future. I know that is another silly thing EA has done, but if you see the statement, we can believe the feature is nearer anytime soon.

They said that the crossplay for the PRO Clubs is one update far, and with the update, they can add the feature in no time.

Feel free to check their official Twitter as well to follow through on any new statements regarding when they are going to add the feature.

Which Modes Can Use Crossplay In FIFA 23?

  • FUT Division Rivals (except Co-Op)
  • FUT Champions
  • FUT Ultimate Online Draft
  • FUT Online Friendlies (except Co-Op)
  • FUT Play a Friend
  • Online Friendlies
  • Online Seasons (except Co-Op Seasons)
  • Virtual Bundesliga (only available to players based in Germany)

There are all the crossplay shared game modes that you can play across the different brand’s same generation of consoles.

Which Platforms Share A Transfer Market In FIFA 23?

Now after the addition of crossplay to the FUT, the FUT transfer market will have the cross-platform functionality, and the market will be combined within the pools of their particular platforms.

The shared FUT Transfer Market Pool is combined for the platforms like PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S with PC and Nintendo Switch exceptions.

While the PC (pool 1) and Switch (pool 2) do not share any FUT Transfer Market with any of the platforms I mentioned above.

So if you list something on PS5, the player on the Xbox Series X will be able to see and interact with it.

How To Play FIFA 23 Cross-platform With Friends

First, you need to enable the crossplay from the settings. The cross-play feature is enabled by default, but in case you turned it off, now you have the time.

Follow this on how to enable the crossplay in FIFA 23:

  • Open up the main menu and Press R2 or RT button if you are on Xbox to open the Social Tab.
  • Click on the Options settings.
  • Go into the Social Settings.
  • Now Head over to the Matchmaking Options and Select the Crossplay setting to yes.
  • That’s all you need to enable the crossplay for other platforms.

Here is how you can add the friends and how to invite them to your Online Friendlies:

  1. Go to the Social Menu.
  2. Add your friend’s username in the search for a player box.
  3. You will need the EA ID of your friend to do this.
  4. Now click on the Online Friendlies menu and invite your friend.
  5. Once your friend accepts the friend request, it will then appear in the social menu.
  6. So later on, when you get the invites, they will come through the social menu, which you can then accept immediately.

Here’s everything you need to do to play with your friends in the FIFA 23, which is no longer challenging if you follow through with every step.

Just enable the crossplay with the settings I mentioned above, which is enabled by default, and then add your friends so that you can play with them later on.

Final Take:

EA has made many changes to the game and finally made crossplay possible for the fans after so many FIFA editions. I believe that in the future other features like Pro Clubs will be cross-platform too.

Regarding the crossplay available platforms, EA truthfully played nicely here by balancing the gameplay with the same brand’s similar generation-enabled crossplay.
