There is quite a nostalgic sentiment attached to this name Halo. Back in the day, this game was the talk of the town. So many gamers grew up playing Halo so you can imagine the hype around Halo Infinite when it was announced.
People were excited to try out the new PVP multiplayer game. Developed by 343 industries, Halo infinite sees our protagonist Master Chief continue his fight against evil forces.
Halo Infinite campaign was met with mixed reception, with many critics leaning toward criticism but Halo Infinite’s free-to-play PVP saw success and a much more lukewarm reception.
It certainly refreshed some old memories, fighting on those maps again made me feel like a kid. Halo infinite, being an Xbox exclusive, is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox series X/S. Playstation players don’t have the luxury to download Halo, Xbox wins here
Halo Infinite multiplayer PVP delivers the best of the franchise. It’s good and you can play it for free with your friends. But talking about multiplayer PVP in 2023, we have to ask about cross platform play.
Halo Infinite introduces some new game modes that further justify the question “Does Halo Infinite support cross platform play?”
For the PvE Coop side, Halo infinite features a Fireteam battle, which allows you to take 4 players and jump into the Halo campaign. I can’t imagine playing this without any friends but for that, cross-play is necessary especially if one of your friends is on a different platform.
Is Halo Infinite Cross Platform In 2023?
Halo Infinite is only available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. And good news for Halo friends, Crossplay is active between these platforms. Crossplay is actually demanded and the most sought feature these days.
If a newer title is released, Fans are always looking forward to crossplay. and it makes sense because, in this day and age where multiplayer gaming is dominating the gaming industry, Crossplay feels like a necessity more than just a selling point.
Everyone loves multiplayer games because it allows them to socialize with other people while they work as a team to conquer game mechanics.
And not everyone has the same setup. Some are biased towards PC and others love console gaming just for the sake of comfort and casual time spending. Crossplay gathers everyone into the same server and there is no worry left.
Halo infinite is, fortunately, a cross platform game, and to be fair, the halo community has been asking this for a long time. It’s great to see that developers finally heard our voices and gave us our own battleground where everyone can join and play against each other.
Games get more competitive, Queuing times get shorter and in the end, everyone is happy. Not only is cross platform play enabled, but You can also enjoy cross-progression across multiple platforms.
Cross-progression allows you to transfer your in-game data to another platform. You can continue your in-game progress from where you left. This is available on PC (Microsoft Store Version only), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
How Do You Turn Halo Infinite Crossplay On?
This one is a tricky question to get by. The thing is that Halo Infinite crossplay is a blessing for some people. and for others, it is a nightmare.
Crossplay is enabled by default when you download Halo infinite which is good news. Bad news? you can’t turn it off. There is no option to enable it and there is no option to disable it either. Not really freedom of choice here by 343 studios.
Console players mainly are troubled by this feature. As you know, in PVP games PC players have the most advantage because of how the mouse and keyboard work.
The movement, quick reaction times, everything is perfect. So in most crossplay lobbies, PC players are the most dominating demographic. you have high fps refresh rates monitors that further make things worse for controller players.
Right now 120 fps is the limit for consoles. But our humble friends on PC can easily enjoy upto 250 fps in most competitive games. Crossplay can make things worse in cases where you can’t disable it.
In PVE it’s not a bad thing, but PVP is something sacrilegious to people and I have seen tryhards playing it as their lives depend on a single match. I can imagine the frustration but there is one way you can change the matchmaking in your favor.
This is called input-based matchmaking, which filters the lobby according to the choice of peripheral you have connected. This is available in ranked matches only.
You can opt for either mouse and keyboard or controller while matchmaking and you will meet players using the same peripheral you choose. It’s a neat trick but it is only available in ranked mode only. here’s to hoping that developers introduce this feature in other modes too.
Can I Turn Off Crossplay On Xbox For Halo Infinite?
Crossplay is very much available in Halo Infinite but it seems like there is no option to toggle on and off crossplay. Players have no choice but to compete with other platform users.
This is actually a good thing as crossplay is seen as a major selling point in any game and it opens doors for other players to join and play together. But having a choice is also appreciated.
Most people don’t feel like playing with other platforms so they might get turned off by this decision. Console players also avoid playing in PC lobbies because PC players have higher skills and better movement. Power crept is strong which is not fair to some players.
It is however expected that in the future Developers might add a solution to this but right now, you can only choose what players to play against based on their input controller in Ranked mode only.
Will ‘Halo Infinite’ Multiplayer Be Cross Platform?
Halo Infinite multiplayer is in fact, been cross platform active since its launch. It is a free-to-play title with cross platform and cross-progression benefits.
It’s amazing but at the same time, the cross platform mode is something that can’t be turned off at the moment. Players don’t have the privilege to decide for themselves which is soon going to be fixed in near future.
But right now, Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S with crossplay enabled. New players are very much welcome to play this game on any platform they want without having to worry about being left out. You can invite your friends and play this game free of cost on any platform Halo Infinite is available.

Final Verdict:
Halo Infinite is the most fun I have had in a long time. I am a huge PvP shooter fan and it’s the halo we are talking about. Of course, I had to play this game sooner or later. And with all the crossplay, and cross-progression benefits it gives.
I think it deserves some credit. Crossplay is a huge plus in my opinion and Halo Infinite is free-to-play too. Too good to be true but it is in fact true.
My only complaint would be that there should be some choice to toggle on and off crossplay for all game modes. And I am hopeful that Developers would introduce this feature sooner or later.
