Launched by Bethesda Game Studios and released on October 23, 2018, the Fallout 76 is an online action role-playing game published by Bethesda Softworks.
Fallout 76 is a prequel to all the previously launched games. It is the first multiplayer-implemented game in the whole series, allowing the players to join and explore the post-apocalyptic wasteland together.
The game Fallout 76 is available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox. At the same time, it also has the backward compatibility, which allows the users to play the game on their new generation of consoles.
With the launch on different platforms, Fallout 76 allows players around the world to participate and play one of the first Fallout games with the multiplayer mode enabled.
This means you can loot the areas with your friends and experience the unique story by playing with each other and much more.
The launch of the game was not good because of the unstable things present in the game, but from time to time, they’ve fixed many technicalities and errors and stabilized the game.
So after many years, as I am writing about this, I’ve seen many improvements in the game. While the multiplayer received massive praise from the gamers, a feature like crossplay can further enhance the overall experience of the game.
Still, the game is doing good in its current state, and as an MMORPG title, it is very much up to the mark in this genre niche.
With so many ideas and challenges completed, we can say that, like other things got steady, we may also see a crossplay feature because, as you know, Microsoft has acquired the studio.
Is Fallout 76 Crossplay?
Well, Fallout 76 is not cross-platform and does not offer any support for the crossplay. Since day one, the crossplay feature was on the wishlist of the users playing the game.
But unfortunately, there is no state of playing multiplayer with your friends from different gaming platforms.
Crossplay is a modern-day mechanic, and new games are implementing this technique in every game where there is a multiplayer game mode available. Still, despite the loud calling out of the community, they didn’t add any cross-platform feature in Fallout 76.
You may have noticed that this feature can help the developers of the game to achieve something that they haven’t reached post-launch, but I do think the way they have stabilized the game, there may be a chance standing in the future for the crossplay addon being implemented into the game.
Another thing that Bethesda confirmed about the Fallout 76 is that it doesn’t matter what service you are using to play the game (Steam or Game Pass); you can still play against all the PC players without any complications.

How Does The Cross Progression Works In Fallout 76?
Sadly, there is no feature of cross-progression in Fallout 76, and you can’t track the progress if you are accessing the game on another gaming platform.
Even though the platform is from the same brand, there is no chance you can recover the progress you have made.
Likewise, there is no cross-save feature in Fallout 76 as well. So, you cannot save and restore the game from where you left it on any of the gaming platforms.
Despite the game being available on so many platforms, there is no way you can crossplay, cross-progress, or cross-save in the Fallout 76.
We can’t say anything about it as of now, but seeing the present, I expect that this cross-progression feature hasn’t been discussed among the studio.
Even though the game was made available on the Xbox Game Pass service as well right away when Microsoft attained the studio.
Is Fallout 76 Multiplayer?
Yes, Fallout 76 is a multiplayer game. Introducing the multiplayer mode is one of the unique selling points for the franchise. So this way, you can do plenty of stuff on your own.
Building stuff is one of the essential factors compared to Fallout 4, and you now need to defend its contents from the other players.
You can team up with your friends with up to three people, which you can do by connecting with your friends via the social menu in the top right-hand corner.
While skill points and perks are back again, they are slightly different this time. Perks can also boost the teammate’s capabilities, and if a friend has the caps, they can bring their friends to the map without any cost.
Furthermore, you can even fire nuclear missiles at other players as well, and the game has a reason for that.
Despite the massive positive shout to the multiplayer mode Bethesda’s Pete Hines says the game does have a story mode as well.

Despite the lousy launch of Fallout 76, the studio did so many things to improve the overall game experience and also added the multiplayer mode to play with your friends as well.
But apart from all of this, they haven’t added any crossplay or cross-platform feature to the game yet, and there is no plan to add the feature in the future too.
So, all we can do is raise our voice in the community and tell the developers that we need a cross-platform feature in the next coming games coming from the same studio.
