What’s a better way to spend your weekend than roaming around in a fantasy world and killing monsters? Capcom has been setting the bar relatively high when it comes to action RPG games with their Monster Hunter franchise.
One of the five Monster Hunter games that Capcom offer is Monster Hunter World. After being globally released back in 2018, the game still attracts a lot of fanbases almost four years later.

Making a game cross-platform means developing the game from the ground up using a common code and game engines.
Since different game engines are used to develop a game for different platforms, making the game cross platform can become quite challenging. Not to mention the additional costs of human resources that’ll go into developing the game again.
Keeping in mind these challenges and limitations of making the game cross-platform, and the fact that nothing has been heard from the developers in the last four years, the chances of Monster Hunter World receiving an update that’ll allow it to be played cross platform are next to none.
Final Verdict
Cross-platform gameplay is bound to increase the popularity of the game. With a game of this caliber that already has such a huge fanbase, I can’t even imagine the heights of popularity it will reach if offered with a cross-platform gameplay feature.
Lastly, the game doesn’t offer any cross-progression feature either. This means that if you do finally decide to get a new console or a PC just so that you could play with your friends, you’ll have to start playing the game from scratch. You won’t be able to transfer your data across platforms.
Summing it all up, if you want to have the adrenaline rush of killing the monsters with your friends, you need to be on the same platform.
