Based on historical events, this fps shooter was released in 2016 and was the 10th installment in the franchise Battlefield. Many people get the wrong impression that this game is the first installment in the franchise because of the 1 in the title, but that is not the case.
The story of the game takes space in the world war 1 era, and likewise, the gameplay is inspired by historical events. Upon release, Battlefield 1 was met with high praise and became a successful launch.
This game features single-player mode and multiplayer mode, with a multiplayer mode being a fan favorite and a staple of battlefield games. This game was released on Pc, Playstation 4, and Xbox One at that time. There is no mobile version of this game.
Being a massive multiplayer with huge maps, This game allows players to compete against each other by capturing flags, destroying enemy vehicles, or you can just grab a weapon and ride on a camel’s back while gunning down noobs.
This sounds fun, and with friends, you are in for a good time. But the question arises, Is there any sort of cross-platform support that allows you to play with your friends on different platforms or, in general, with other players? Does battlefield 1 support cross-platform mode for all game modes?
Is Battlefield 1 Cross Platform In 2023?
Well, sadly, there is no cross-platform available among all the platforms this game is available to play on. Players need to purchase this game on the same platform if they are willing to play with each other.
This is not surprising by any means; nowadays, a lot of games avoid cross-platform support due to the technical process that goes through developing servers dedicated to cross-platform.
Battlefield 1 is a great game, and it deserves the crossplay mode, but from the developer’s point of view, this is not as easy as it sounds. First of all, they have to consider the restrictions on games for each different platform.
This raises the issue of compatibility, which is one of the major aspects of crossplay. Introducing crossplay means that the developers should focus their resources and spend most of their time on making separate servers that will allow players from all platforms to interact with each other.
Not to mention that PC and Console are two different worlds and the way a game can play out is different on both platforms.
PC users use a mouse and keyboard, while Console players use controllers. There is no specific rule, but PC players can also have fun with a controller on a PC.
However, each time developers release a gameplay change or update, they have to cater to both sides. The controls and changes should be compatible for each platform to work on, especially when PC players have the most advantage in the PVP competition.

Furthermore, there are legal issues that can’t be ignored. Each console developer treats the version of their game as their own, and they can launch some exclusive items that only a user that is owning the game on that platform can purchase.
Cross-platform support is entirely missing from Battlefield 1. Developers never showed any progress or interest in making a cross-platform mode to accommodate all platform players in one place.
If you are willing to play with your friends on another platform, you might have to switch your whole setup, which is inconvenient and not welcomed.
Most people would rather prefer to stay on a console than buy this game on PC and start learning new controls, which makes sense.
There is technically a form of crossplay available, but I would rather not call it crossplay. You can play the game with your friends if they own the same series of platforms.
For example, you are allowed to play with someone on Xbox Series X if you are playing on Xbox one. The same goes for PS5 and PS4. for PC users, Steam and Origin players can match and queue up against each other.
The Conclusion:
We are now at the conclusion of this article, and if I have to sum up the whole article in one word, that would be NO, despite being one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time.
There are millions of players who swear by this game every day. It’s good to see that after all these years, there is a passionate fanbase that still plays older battlefield versions daily.
Some of them even started community servers so they could keep the game alive even after the developers had shifted to the development of the next installment.
However, I’d say fans like these are hidden gems, and they deserve better. Even in 2023, the battlefield hype is strong, and there is yet to see any sort of development toward crossplay/cross-progression.
Especially a franchise is that big that rivals Call of duty every year, which by the way, supports cross-platform in all game modes, including the battle royale spin-off.
Hopefully, in the future, we might see some sort of cross-platform in older games once developers have enough resources and sufficient means of technology to make this dream into reality. Till then, all we can do is hope for the best.
